Baxter won the 2002 NCAA championship with teammates and future NBA players Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, and Chris Wilcox while attending the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2001 and 2002, he was named the NCAA Tournament’s regional MVP both times.
The Chicago Bulls drafted Baxter with the 15th overall selection in the second round (44th overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft.
1st The Houston Rockets traded Baxter to the Charlotte Bobcats for Keith Bogans on February 9, 2006. He joined Panionios in 2008. He moved to Beşiktaş Cola Turka in 2009.
